Use organic fertilizers in your garden

Organic fertilizers can be made from natural substances, such as compost, manure and seaweed extract. Organic fertilizers are made from non-synthetic materials. There are several types of organic fertilizers:

Combine equal parts of compost, manure and/or fish-emulsion to make organic fertilizer. Mix thoroughly. If you don’t possess all three ingredients you can substitute one for the other. For example, if you only have access to the fish emulsion, you can mix 1 part of fish emulsion with two parts of compost.

To apply the fertilizer, spread it evenly over the soil using a shovel or tiller. You should spread about one quarter cup of the fertilizer per square foot. To see new growth, you will need to apply more fertilizer every 2 weeks.
